City Refuge Worker

City based

20 hours per week £19,621 (pro rata)

Fixed term contract until 31 March 2015 but with possibility of further extensions

Regular evening and weekend work will be required.

A vacancy has arisen to work with women with or without children in refuge and who have experienced domestic abuse. You must have experience of working with vulnerable adults and children, of working in a refuge or hostel and working in a multi-cultural context. An understanding of issues surrounding domestic abuse and sexual violence is also essential.

A relevant degree or equivalent experience is required (for example social work, youth work, teaching), together with experience of planning and evaluation of your own and others’ work.

Due to the nature of the role this post is open to women only under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1 and subject to enhanced DBS checks.

Board Members

We are looking for new members to be on our Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for:-

  •    Setting the strategic direction and overall purpose of WALL. 
  •   Ensuring that services meet operational and contractual objectives.
  •   Ensuring that WALL operates within legal requirements.

There will be a need to attend a modest number of - mostly evening - meetings, for which reasonable travel expenses are paid.

Bank Work          

We occasionally require Bank Workers with experience of work with vulnerable adults and children. The following roles are considered: 

  • Refuge Bank Worker - must have experience of working with vulnerable adults and children in a refuge setting
  • Family Support Worker - Must have experience of community work and work with vulnerable adults.
  • Outreach Worker - Must have experience of community and/or outreach work.
  • Administrative Assistant - Must have experience of administrative work.
  • Childcare/Play Worker - Must have experience of work with children 0-11 years.
  • Trainers - Skilled in developing training materials and training programmes. Must have understanding of domestic violence.

Evening and weekend working is required.
